Note: for the sake of avoiding confusion, this series will feature 6 Events, each composed of 2 Races. There will be a total of 12 Races. Do not confuse Events and Races!

SECTION 1: PURPOSE & GOVERNANCE

Porsche Cup Unleashed exists to provide a competitive, fair, and professional racing environment within iRacing. This section outlines the mission, governance structure, and application of sporting regulations to ensure consistency, safety, and sportsmanship across all events.

1.1 Mission & Spirit of the Series

Porsche Cup Unleashed emphasizes clean racing, fairness, and driver development. Competitors are expected to race hard but responsibly, respect fellow drivers, and maintain the integrity of the series. Unsportsmanlike behavior, deliberate contact, or actions that undermine fair competition are strictly prohibited.

1.2 Driver Code of Conduct

All competitors are expected to maintain professional and respectful behavior both on and off the track. The following standards apply at all times:

  • On-Track Conduct: race cleanly, avoid unnecessary contact, and show respect to competitors in all situations.
  • Off-Track Conduct: harassment, abusive language, or inflammatory behavior in Discord, voice chat, or public forums is strictly prohibited.
  • Sportsmanship: drivers are expected to demonstrate integrity by respecting penalties, acknowledging mistakes, and competing fairly.
  • Representation: competitors represent the Porsche Cup Unleashed community and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the series.

Violations of this code may result in penalties, including removal from the league.

SECTION 2: MEMBERSHIP, TECHNICAL REGULATIONS, PRIZES

To participate in Porsche Cup Unleashed, drivers must meet registration, licensing, and participation requirements. This section defines how to register, and guidelines for placing drivers in the appropriate class.

2.1 League Registration & Class Assignment

All competitors must register through the official Porsche Cup Unleashed registration form, found in the Discord, and be approved by series management prior to participation.

2.2 Entry Fees

To complete your registration, you will be required to either pay a fee of $6.7 or be subbed to http://twitch.tv/dariofr87 when you join a Race Server for the first time.

2.2 Classes

A participant’s class will be determined based on their Sports Car iRating. If a driver owns more than one iRacing account, their highest Sports Car iRating will be used.

In the interest of fair competition, if a driver’s Formula iRating is considerably higher than their Sports Car iRating, Race Direction reserves the right to bump said driver in a higher class.

For Season 1 of Porsche Cup Unleashed, Classes will be determined as follows:

  • PRO  - iRating higher than 2500
  • AM  - iRating lower than or equal to 2500

2.3 Technical Regulations

To ensure competitive balance and fairness, all competitors must adhere to the following technical requirements:

  • Car Model: Porsche 911 Cup (992.2)
  • Setups: iRacing’s track specific fixed setups
  • Liveries: Drivers are encouraged to run custom paints, provided they do not include offensive content, political/religious messaging, or copyrighted material

Failure to comply with technical regulations may result in disqualification from results and/or additional penalties.

SECTION 3: EVENT FORMAT AND RACE PROCEDURES

Porsche Cup Unleashed follows a consistent event structure to ensure fair competition and efficient race events. This section defines the format, session procedures, and race operations:

3.1 - Standard Event Structure

Each Porsche Cup Unleashed event is composed of two different race servers:

  • Race Server 1 opens at 8:00PM CET
  • Race Server 2 opens at 8:50PM CET*

Each event will respect the following schedule:

  • 8:00PM CET - Practice 1 (30m)
  • 8:30PM CET - Qualifying 1 (10m)
  • 8:40PM CET - Race 1 (20m)
  • 8:50PM CET - Practice 2 (25m)*
  • 9:15PM CET - Qualifying 2 (10m)
  • 9:25PM CET - Race 2 (25m)

*Race Server 2 (and Practice 2) launch before the end of Race 1 to allow for more seamless transitions between servers and to give those who miss Race 1 a place to practice.

Event Formats:

  • Qualifying 1: Open Qualifying session
  • Qualifying 2: Lone Qualifying, capped to 1 lap
  • Races: All races will be set to fixed laps to be as close as possible to the intended race time.

3.2 Race Start Procedures

  • Start Type: all races use Standing Starts.

3.3 Yellow Flag Procedures

Yellow flag rules exist to neutralize on-track incidents.

Local Yellows are issued for incidents affecting only a portion of the track. Drivers approaching the incident must reduce speed and be prepared to stop if necessary.

  • Drivers in the yellow-flagged sector must not overtake until the next green flag (ie. the yellow flag is no longer on screen).
  • Track limit must be maintained; leaving the track to gain advantage under local yellow may result in penalties

3.4 Track Limits

Track limits exist to prevent unfair advantage and to maintain safe competition.

  • Drivers must relinquish any advantage gained by exceeding track limits (Section 4.1.3).
  • Repeated or blatant violations may result in additional penalties.

3.5 Fast Repair Policy

Fast repairs are permitted in league competition under the following conditions:

  • Allowance: Each driver is granted one (1) fast repair per Race, unless otherwise stated in the official schedule or pre-race briefing.
  • Usage: Drivers may choose when to use their fast repair during the race.
  • Responsibility: Cars limping back to pit lane must remain off the racing line and avoid creating hazards. Unsafe rejoining or blocking pit entry/exit while damaged may result in penalties.

3.6 Server & Connection Rules

Connection stability is the driver's responsibility. The following policies govern disconnections and server issues:

  • Driver Disconnects: if a driver disconnects during a session, they may rejoin as permitted by iRacing. No allowances or restarts will be granted for individual connection issues.
  • Server Failures: in the event of an iRacing server crash or mass disconnect, the following procedures apply:
    • If less than 25% of race distance is completed, the race will be annulled.
    • If more than 25% but less than 75% of race distance is completed, results will be based on the last completed lap before the interruption, and half points will be awarded.
    • If more than 75% of race distance is completed, results will be based on the last completed lap before the interruption, and points will be awarded in full.
  • Netcode Risk: drivers with unstable connections creating unsafe conditions may be black-flagged or removed from the session at the discretion of Race Control. The R/D will remove drivers only in a last resort situation.

SECTION 4: PENALTIES

To preserve fairness and sportsmanship, the following rules govern conduct on track. Each offense carries a penalty.

4.1 Offenses and Penalties

On-track conduct is governed by clearly defined rules to maintain fairness and safety. This subsection outlines specific infractions and the penalties they carry. Drivers are responsible for knowing and following these rules; violations will be reviewed by Race Control and penalized consistently.

  • 4.1.1 Driving in the Wrong Direction

Driving in the wrong direction is extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated. The only acceptable circumstance is if a driver must take evasive action to avoid a further incident. Otherwise, this results in immediate disqualification from the race and an additional race ban.

Penalty: Disqualification (DQ) + Race Ban

  • 4.1.2 Gaining an Advantage After Serving a Slowdown

If a slowdown penalty is served improperly (e.g., cutting the track, but still maintaining or gaining time/positions), further penalties will apply. The intent is that slowdowns remove any gained advantage, not allow drivers to retain it. Track Limits info can be found in Section 3.4.

Possible Penalties: D/T – Time Penalty – Return of Position

  • 4.1.3 Blocking

Defending a position is permitted, however, drivers may not move in reaction to a pursuing competitor’s actions. Altering one’s line in response to another car is considered blocking and will be penalized.

The Race Director has final authority on whether blocking has occurred.

Possible Penalties: D/T – Time Penalty

  • 4.1.4 Incident Responsibility

Any driver who, in the sole opinion of the Race Director, is responsible for contact resulting in another car spinning, going off-track, sustaining damage requiring immediate repairs, or losing position may be penalized.

The responsibility rests on the driver initiating the move to complete it safely.

Possible Penalties: D/T – Time Penalty – Return of Position

  • 4.1.5 Unjustifiable Risk / Unsafe Rejoin

Overly aggressive actions, dangerous overtakes, or unsafe rejoining of the track pose serious risks to others. Any driver who engages in any behavior deemed to be an Unjustifiable Risk or reckless endangerment may be penalized. Severity of penalty depends on the level of danger caused.

Possible Penalties: Discretion of Race Director

  • 4.1.6 Blue Flag Etiquette Violations

Lapped drivers must yield safely to faster cars when shown the blue flag. Ignoring or obstructing blue flags compromises race integrity and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Possible Penalties: Discretion of Race Director

  • 4.1.7 Failure to Serve a Penalty

If a driver fails to acknowledge or serve an in-race penalty, additional sanctions will be issued.

A driver who has been issued a Return of Position penalty must serve the penalty as soon as safely possible. Other penalties issued through iRacing race control, such as Drive Throughs or Stop and Holds, must be served within the time limits imposed by the game.

Failure to comply with race control may include heavy time additions, disqualification, or race bans depending on severity.

Possible Penalties: Discretion of Race Direction

SECTION 5: PROTESTS AND APPEALS

Porsche Cup Unleashed maintains a structured process for incident review and dispute resolution to ensure fair competition.

If the Race Director is unable to issue a ruling during a race, or further review is deemed to be necessary, the Race Director should notify the field that the incident will be reviewed after the race.

5.1 Protest filing procedure

For any violation that was not noted by the Race Director, Drivers may elect to file a protest.

Protests must be submitted no longer than one hour after the end of the final session of the evening.

Protests must be submitted through the following link: https://forms.gle/sNVPNFDYeFYquSHa7

5.2 Appealing In-Race Penalties

Drivers may appeal a penalty if they believe the Stewards have, as per the published Incident Report, missed a significant mitigating circumstance or new information (including but not limited to third party telemetry) has become available that warrants re-evaluation of the incident.

Appeals must be submitted no longer than one hour after the end final session of the evening.

Appeals must be submitted through the following link: https://forms.gle/hBTjcYuSmP9LMVKN6

Upon receipt, the Race Director will adjudicate appeals before either dismissing them, or putting them forward to the Stewards for re-evaluation. Note that frivolous appeals (those without merit) may lead to an increase of the original penalty.

SECTION 6: COMMUNICATION & ADMINISTRATION

Effective communication ensures smooth event operations and fair competition.

6.1 Race Control Communication

All official instructions, incident reports, and procedural updates are communicated via Discord.

  • Drivers must monitor the Race Control text chat and voice chat channels during all sessions.
  • Competitors are required to read the Race Briefing pdf that will be released on the discord each week.

6.2 Conduct in Voice/Text Channels

Professional and respectful communication is required at all times:

- Abusive, disruptive, or inflammatory behavior may result in penalties.

6.3 Official Announcements & Updates

All updates, bulletins, and rule changes are distributed via official channels within Discord.

SECTION 7: AMENDMENTS & AUTHORITY

Porsche Cup Unleashed reserves the right to update rules and regulations to ensure fairness, safety, and operational efficiency.

7.1 Rulebook Amendments During Season

  • Rule changes may be issued at any time up to 2 hours before Qualifying 1 and will be announced in official Discord Channels. The Sporting Regulations will also be updated accordingly.
  • Updates will be communicated via official channels in Discord.

7.2 Notification of Competitors

  • Competitors will be informed of amendments prior to the next scheduled event via iRacing Voice Chat and Discord.
  • It is the responsibility of each driver to stay informed of current rules.

7.3 Race Director’s Final Authority

  • The Race Director holds ultimate authority over the interpretation and enforcement of all rules.
  • Any disputes or ambiguities in the rules are resolved at the Race Director’s discretion, and all decisions are final.

SECTION 8: SCORING

8.1 Scoring Structure

8.2 Bonus Points per Race Event

  • Pole Position: +3 points per class (PRO and AM)
  • Fastest Lap: +3 points
  • Incident-Free Race (0x): +5 points
  • Low Incident Race (<3x): +2 points

8.3 Drop Races

There will be four Drop Races for the season. A dropped race removes all points from that specific result.

8.4 Classification Requirement

Drivers must complete half of the Race distance (rounded up) to be classified.

Drivers who receive a DSQ will not score any points for that Race.

8.5 Tie-Breakers

If tied on championship points at season end, compare in order:

  1.  Most overall wins
  2.  Most overall 2nd places
  3.  Most overall 3rd places
  4.  Least incidents
  5.  Coin toss

SECTION 9: DRIVER GUIDELINES

This section provides educational guidelines for competitors and serves as a reference framework for stewarding. While not every scenario can be codified, these standards are intended to promote fair competition, predictability, and respect among drivers.

9.1 Objectives of the Penalty System

The penalty system is designed to create a competitive environment that is fair, safe, and enjoyable for all participants. Rules are structured to discourage reckless or unsporting behavior, while allowing flexibility for clean, hard racing. Drivers are encouraged to adjust their racing style in response to penalties or warnings, and to use the system as a guide for improvement.

9.2 Good Driver Etiquette

All drivers are expected to demonstrate sportsmanship and awareness at all times. Key principles include:

  • Patience: Use race length to your advantage; avoid unnecessary risks on Lap 1 or early stints
  • Competitor Awareness: Learn the tendencies of those you race with regularly to better anticipate their actions
  • Mistake Management: If you make an error, rejoin the track safely and avoid compounding the issue
  • Risk Acceptance: Certain maneuvers carry higher risk; drivers should anticipate potential outcomes
  • Tolerance: Mistakes happen even at the highest levels of motorsport; show grace to competitors

9.3 Racing Room & Passing Guidelines

Safe and predictable passing is built on awareness and clear presentation of a move.

  • Peripheral Vision: A pass should be established before the lead driver's turn-in point to ensure visibility
  • Blind Spots: If the overtaking car is not alongside by turn-in, the defending driver may not reasonably see them. Late dives that result in contact will be penalized
  • Responsibility: The overtaking car bears primary responsibility to complete the move safely, but the defending car must allow space once corner rights are established

9.4 Presentation

Presentation determines whether an inside move is entitled to racing room:

  • Good Presentation: Inside car is fully alongside by turn-in. Apex ownership belongs to the inside car
  • Questionable Presentation: Partial overlap without full establishment.
  • Poor Presentation: Inside car has insufficient overlap. Apex ownership belongs to the outside car; inside car must yield

9.5 Cornering Rights

Corner rights are fundamental to stewarding and safe racing.

  • Rights are established when the overtaking driver's front axle reaches at least the defending driver's rear axle before turn-in
  • Both cars are required to leave racing room if rights are established
  • Failure to recognize corner rights may result in penalties under Section 4
