Porsche Cup league racing has a new home.

Beilicke takes championship lead after thrilling Monza double header

Race 1

As the first green flag of the season dropped for the first time this season, the field was immediately engulfed in 20 minutes of pure action. The fight for the win saw an exciting ending with five cars crossing the finish line within half a second. Valero, starting from pole, just about managed to hold off Beilicke and McKenzie Freedman. The latter also secured extra points for fastest lap, ex-equo with 4th place Theurer.

Further down the field, Mathisen was the main character in the AM storyline, managing an impressive comeback from 30th on the grid to 15th overall, which secured him the class win.

Race 2

The second race saw drama even before the green flag, with Theurer being unable to set a valid time in the Superpole: the Hungarian, 4th in Race 1, was forced to start at the back of the field and saw his hopes of an epic comeback thwarted by an untimely visit to the tyre barrier in Lesmo 2. At the front, Finoli and Beilicke kept trading the lead, but ultimately the German snatched the win from the Swede. Valero was able to recover to 3rd after a spin momentarily relegated him to 6th.

AM saw a very commanding win from Mannion, who finished more than 12 seconds ahead of his closest class rival.
